Brief:
Remodel 1970's kitchen to fit the family's lifestyle
and design taste. Improve lighting and create better
circulation and greater utility while staying within
the existing kitchen envelope. Re-work doorways
to improve circulation. Design new breakfast/dining
area. Choose materials and surfaces to maximize
ambient light and create a more comfortable, inviting
kitchen and breakfast area. Replace dark, cold
ceramic tile flooring with new, sustainable solid
Bamboo to accent the IKEA birch cabinetry. Design
and install new overhead and task lighting. Choose
color palette and repaint kitchen, foyer and family
room.
Inside Job provided customization
of the IKEA solution to fill empty space over the
family's large refrigerator with a single-row wine
bottle cubby, and created built-in banquette style
seating using IKEA components. A primary consideration
of the design was to improve the dining area utility.
The Inside Job custom application provides
plenty of seating, considerable extra storage and
a well-integrated design solution.
